As part of Canada’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan, the government has introduced new funding measures to support those who are self-employed.
The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) has been announced which is a new taxable benefit of $2,000 a month for up to 4 months.
- Among others, this benefit will be available to wage earners and self-employed individuals, including contract workers, who would not otherwise be eligible for Employment Insurance.
- If eligible, you will be able to apply for this benefit starting early April. Applications can be submitted via the CRA website.
